Creating an SEO friendly blog
I’ve just been doing some changes to the Digital Transparency blog to make it a bit more friendly for search engines. Google still accounts for 9.5% of visits in the UK according to Hitwise, so SEO is just as important as getting your social presence correct.
I’ve been using a tool called Headspace to try and get some more friendly title tags going on. Hopefully it is working a little more efficiently now so that the post titles appear before the web name in the title tag and that the meta description gives a good account of what the posts are about.
Whilst you are on the blog, you mainly don’t see this information. It is when you are searching in a Search engine that it becomes really useful. The Page Title is what will appear as the main heading, so it needs to be clickable and represent what the user will see when they get to the page. The Description is what appears under the title in the search engine and will persuade the user to click though.
